Kansei Science

Introduction

The Kansei Science studies Kansei, a tacit process of human, that usually activated by experiencing artifacts or system. Kansei is the fundamental mind process of communication between artifacts and human. The target of the research ranges all kind of creative work, such as product-environmental design, communication design or system planning. Graduate should be expected to support the social communication through creative activity in the age of mind or heart.
1) Course Works: Based on the cross-disciplinal point of view, the course work is designed upon a fl exible discipline system, to educate students to be a good teacher as well as researcher who can analyze complicated problem related to mind. Also, these alumni can be a leader in society to solve very complicated problem. For this purpose, we designed a advanced-researcher course and advanced-professional course.
2) Advanced-researcher development: While studying the Kansei Science, students will study related discipline, such as cognitive science, robotics, instrumentation engineering, to be a innovative researcher who can understand the mechanism of mind and heart.
3) Advanced professional development: We educate a professional with necessary knowledge for design such as kansei science, physiology and psychology. They are expected to work bridging cross-disciplinary professional fields such as design and marketing, design and interaction.
4) Graduates are expected to proceed to the Doctoral Program. However, quite a few goes to the professional such as research and product planning based on the research on the driving feeling at a car company, as an example.
5) Graduates: University of Tsukuba (Doctoral study), Mazda motor, SONY, Motorola, Sharp,
etc.
